J - 3 mois "FLORENCE BIENNALE"

Le 20 avril 2024, j'envoyais, peu fébrile admettons-le, un dossier de plusieurs œuvres pour présenter ma candidature à la biennale de Florence 2025.

Quelques jours plus tard je recevais la réponse tant espérée signée par le Dott. Giovanni Cordoni, Responsable événementiel et commissaire d’exposition de la Biennale.

"Dear Jacqueline,

 we are pleased to inform you that the Florence Biennale Curatorial Board examined your application and expressed its favourable opinion about your participation in the XV Florence Biennale 2025.

The Florence Biennale is the major contemporary art and design exhibition in Florence and one of the world's leading contemporary art exhibitions. More than 600 artists and designers from 84 countries participated in the latest edition (XIV Florence Biennale 2023), which was held under the patronage of European Parliament, Italian Commission for UNESCO, Italian Ministry of Culture, Tuscany Region, Municipality of Florence and other important institutions, and attended by more than 13,000 visitors.

 The XV Florence Biennale, which will take place at the Fortezza da Basso (Florence, Italy), from 18 to 26 October 2025, will engage participating artists and visitors in a rich programme of artistic and cultural activities. Aside from the main exhibition, there will be collateral events, performances, workshops, conferences, and lectures relating to the theme of the new edition, which will be announced by June 2024.

Furthermore, each participating artist will have a dedicated page in the Official Catalogue of the XV Florence Biennale, published by Giorgio Mondadori, and will compete for the "Lorenzo il Magnifico" International Award, conferred by an International Jury to the best works on show in each category, as well as for other Special Awards.

Moreover, within the framework of the Florence Biennale, the "Lorenzo il Magnifico Lifetime Achievement Awards" (Art) and the "Leonardo da Vinci Lifetime Achievement Awards" (Design) are conferred to individuals who have reached pinnacles of artistic achievement for their contribution to culture: Marina Abramović, Santiago Calatrava, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, David Hockney, Salvatore & Wanda Ferragamo, Ferrari & Pininfarina, Gilbert & George, Anish Kapoor, David LaChapelle, Oliviero Toscani, Elsa Peretti (Tiffany & Co.), Michelangelo Pistoletto, Paula Scher, Vivienne Westwood, and Franco Zeffirelli are among the recipients of the past editions. The Lifetime Achievement Awards recipients are invited as guests of honour to the biennial, during which they meet the participating artists and receive the award in a public ceremony.
